Kinetic GPS App Reviews

Love-hate relationship

Lately this app has been crashing my phone. Also, the whole constant insistence on always “calibrating” really gets old. It has trouble detecting and accounting for obviously nonsensical GPS data. I use it religiously however (well, used to, because now it tends to force reboot my phone in the middle of all my walks). It’s indispensable and offers a great service (when it works). I do think the animations when you’re switching routines are extraneous though. I prefer instant results to fancy transitions, particularly when I’m about to engage in exercise and am fumbling my phone out the pocket and need it to fire up right away (and if the calibrate dialog comes up in that situation I get pretty unhappy… just start tracking and self-calibrate when the signal improves… these are standard streets and trails we’re on out here… not hard to figure it out. Turn-by-turn GPS navigation never has these problems or hangups.)

Great App

I use this at least weekly to track (fast) walking and have logged 150+ miles. Ive found it very consistent and accurate. Every now and then there is a glitch when my location snaps to a particular wifi access point but this has only happened twice. I really enjoy using it and getting the verbal progress reports.

Tweaks

Really like the simplicity of this app!! It is a very basic running app, that tells you how far/fast/long you have run, along with other helpful information, Also has good ability to share of the data from the run via a variety of methods. A few tweaks that could make some nice improvements. First would like to be able to remove &/or delete data points from the modules, i.e. the speed/pace module has current speed, average speed, current pace, average pace, speed history, max speed. Don’t really need about half of those data point on a run. They would be useful for other actives like cycling etc… The other modules have a similar numbers of data point the have specific usefulness and would like to be able to remove them in order to better customize for particular activity. Another suggested modification is on the map with the mile marks in history, is shows the total elapsed time, miles, and speed. Would like to be able to change those data points, such as rather then speed maybe mile split? etc… Really Like This App and it’s ease of use!

Great App

Ive been using this app for a little over a month to help me track my progress in getting ready for cross-country next year at school. I have brought my 5k PB down 4 minutes in 5 weeks! Now am at about average for cross-country runners in my age range.

One small complaint

I love this app and use it exclusively for my outdoor workouts. I highly suggest it for anyone who likes to run/walk/hike outdoors rather than in the gym. I love that I can set it to tell me how long/far Ive run based on the intervals of my choosing, great for days Im feeling a little sluggish and dont want to check the time. My only complaint is that the information cant be integrated into the Apple Health app, which would be really helpful. other than that I love the app!

Useless to me.

Although this app detects Bluetooth HRMs and displays your HR on the app, it has no way of announcing you HR with audio cues. This is useless and non-sensical. I dont want to pull my phone out of my pocket and turn it on to see my heart rate every few minutes. Heart rate is one of the top concerns of runners. Why they dont have this feature is beyond me. Many other running apps have this option. Ill be using those instead.

Needs one key fix

I use it for running. Works nicely, but the reset button is in a horrible spot for right handed people (vast majority). When I pause at a stop light I am inclined to reset in the middle of my run because right handers will accidentally hit reset w their thumb. Small thing but irritating on a run. MOVE THE BUTTON TO THE OTHER CORNER.

Love it, but...

Great app I use it all the time when I run. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. I do however wish the information can be put into the health app. Do you guys have any plan to make this app available for the apple watch? Great job, keep it up

Terrific app

Im on the mountain 2 or 3 times a week. This app logs all my data so I can review and share my progress. Used it in the marathon also. I recommend it.

Awesome app, but not working with IOS 9

Loved this app. Not overly complex, and did what I wanted it to without all the bells and whistles I didnt want. Unfortunately, I cant keep it open since upgrading to iOS 9.

Unfortunately, NOT what it used to be.

I used to rave about this app because it would calculate my calories for all my cardio; running, roller blading, cycling. But, the other reason I used to love this app has eroded down to nothing; the ability to share with Twitter and Facebook. Now Im on the hunt for a new app. Ive contacted them and suggested I share my workouts via email. REALLY?! Such a shame.

Was great

I have enjoyed this app. However, after the ios9 update today (28 Oct2015), it crashes upon launch. Please fix.

Up grade does not work

Just loaded upgrade and it crashes

Was good until the last update

Used to be really good. Gps was on point everything was on point. Since the last update however this is crap. The gps bounces around or doesnt even work... Fix this soon I will be deleting the app and finding a better one that actually works....

New Version Crashes Immediately

The new update crashes upon launch under iOS 9.1, iPhone 6s

Was great!

Also having problems with the app crashing upon launch. Still running iOS 8.4. Used to work beautifully. Now cant even use it. :(

Crashes!

Ive been using this app for about 18 months with no problems. However, with the latest update, the app crashes on startup. Im on an iPhone 5 with iOS 9.1.

Cant even open the app.

Since last update, useless.

This update went horribly wrong

Worked fine but now is stuck trying to update, cant be deleted but is totally useless. Waste of space on my phone

Used to be outstanding....

Recently (around the end of October), it stopped working in the background. This is a problem since I use it with Seconds Pro for interval training (which Kinetic does not allow) and recently with Fitbit (a new purchase). I basically use all of these together. If Mothership wants to let this app go in the toilet, fine...leave it as is. If you want people to use it: 1) Fix the background app issue. It wont make it an improvement over what it was, but it wont be any worse. 2) If you want to keep some of us, add interval training functionality along with the ability to give audio cues whenever specified. At least then, I can stop using Seconds Pro. At this time, I dont use Kinetic anymore. Thats a shame because the audio cues were the most human sounding that I knew. If its not fixed soon, theres no point In going back to it at all.
